Wrinkles and Wrinkle Creams

by on August 31st, 2008

Do wrinkle creams work?

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just rub on some skin care for anti aging wrinkle cream like they do on those infomercials and all your wrinkles would disappear? Well unfortunately it isn’t as simple as that and even those that do have some positive effect on your facial antiaging can only do so much. you are never going to get the same positive results that you would with say Botox treatment however using good quality wrinkle creams on a regular basis will help to keep your skin in better condition and that will help you to remain younger looking.

Collagen is the support structure that helps the skin to retain a youthful appearance and remain firm. Most of the best wrinkle products on the market will have ingredients in them that will help to stimulate the production of collagen in the body. The more collagen that is present the better the tone and condition of the skin and this will help to slow down and sometimes reverse the aging process. These products aren’t as good as medical procedures but they do have their benefits in low costs and the convenience of use. With many people reluctant to use any form of medical procedure they can certainly help to make considerable improvements if the right product is chosen for your wrinkle cure and antiaging skin care problem.

No doubt you will read the many glowing testimonials that are available to help sell almost any product on the market but there have been many tests done that have shown that there is no correlation between the benefits that these anti wrinkle products deliver and the prices that you have to pay. Just because you are paying a high price doesn’t mean the product is any better. Try small samples of products that you believe will help you and look at the results with an open mind to see whether they are worthwhile or not. They can certainly help you but no two people will get the same results and your results are all that matter.

Musical Success: Gibson Guitars

by on August 31st, 2008

When you mention a particular product and speak about the top of the line, one specific brand within that product line usually comes to mind. For example, if you talk about top of the line in the car industry, one may think or mention the brand of Cadillac, Lexus, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, etc.

In addition, if you were to talk about music you might think of a Steinway, Baldwin, Stradivarius, etc. Specifically, if you were to talk about the top of the line in the guitar world, one of the names that probably would be mentioned would be Gibson Guitars.

The History Of Gibson Guitars

The founder of the Gibson Guitar company was Orville Gibson. However, the first manufactured stringed instruments by Orville Gibson weren’t guitars but mandolins. Eventually, though, the production of mandolins gave way to the production of guitars and the Gibson Mandolin Guitar Manufacturing Company was born in 1902. Soon, the production of guitars became the mainstay and Gibson introduced numerous innovative guitar designs.

Eventually, the electric guitar came on the scene. In fact, the Gibson Guitar Company released the first Electric Spanish model. The claim to fame of this model is that it is being credited as the first electric guitar successfully built for commercial use.

Another successful line of Gibson Guitars was the Gibson Les Paul. This particular model of Gibson Guitar was released in 1954. Other guitarists who have helped to popularize the Gibson Guitar have been Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Pete Green.

The Categorizing Of Gibson Guitars

In 1970, Gibson Guitars decided upon a tactic to help protect their name and the guitars that were manufactured. That solution was to stamp an eight digit serial number on their product.

Specifically, the eight digit number is stamped on the underside of the headstock of the guitar. In addition, the serial number is significant. That significance is that the number corresponds to the date that the instrument was manufactured, the location indicating where the guitar was made and the run number. Specifically, the first and fifth number represent the year, the second, third and fourth number represent the day of the year of manufacturing and the sixth number represents the locale of manufacturing. Finally, the last two digits, of the eight digit serial number, represent the run number.

Types Of Gibson Guitars

In addition to electric guitars, there are other types of Gibson Guitars. Those types include acoustic guitars, bass and bluegrass style guitars.

Dirt Cheap Auto Insurance

by on August 31st, 2008

Auto insurance is a necessity, but getting dirt cheap auto insurance is what you should strive for. Take advantage of every possible discount on auto insurance that you can. Many people choose to pay for their auto insurance on a monthly basis. However, the premium is calculated on a six month or annual basis. If you look at your monthly statements, you are being charged for the convenience of making the payments monthly. If you pay the six month or annual premium in full you will save money over the course of the policy.

Most insurance companies offer more than just auto insurance. They want to be a provider for all the needs of their customers. There are multiple discounts offered on auto insurance if you combine it with another policy such as your home owners insurance or a life insurance policy. This is because the insurance company wants to maintain your business. They can even roll everything into one convenient monthly, quarterly, semi annual or annual payment.

Many people don’t realize that the types of vehicles they operate have a huge effect of the base cost of the auto insurance that they pay. Sports cars and convertibles are among the highest autos when it comes to insurance rates. To get discounts, consider buying vehicles with added safety features including passenger air bags, side air bags, four wheel drive, and a sensor for backing up.

The more you are able to establish yourself as a safe driver, the better the chance you have at getting dirt cheap auto insurance. An insurance provider will look at how long you have had your driver’s license as well as any claims, accidents, and moving violations. Major moving violations such as driving under the influence will raise your insurance costs because of the high risk involved with covering you. If you have young drivers in your household, consider having them take driver’s education so that you can get a discount for them. Many insurance companies offer a discount for student with good grades as well.

The internet is a great place to find out about the various auto insurance discounts that may apply to your particular auto insurance needs. If you are new to getting auto insurance or you have a spotty driving record, you may have to start out paying a high premium. You can work to establish a pattern of being reliable by following the rules of the road and paying your premiums on time. This way you will be eligible to reap the rewards of dirt cheap auto insurance in the future.

What to look for in a wooden porch swing.

by on August 30th, 2008

Before buying a wooden porch swing, it’s important to make sure that the swing you are buying meets a number of important criteria. Here is a list of what you should look for in a swing, along with some reasons why it’s important.

Hand Made - A hand made swing is certainly a must when buying a porch swing. This is because each piece is individually crafted, ensuring better cuts and a smoother finish.

Cypress - Cypress has been called the “eternal wood” because of its ability to stand up to the elements. A cypress swing is as durable as teak, while being as little as one-tenth the price! Don’t buy a swing made from exotic woods only to watch it rot on your porch.

Size - Be sure that the porch swing you choose is the correct size to fit on your porch, and to fit the number of people you expect to be swinging on it.

Accessories - Would you like your swing to have a cup holder? An interesting question, perhaps, but certainly something to think about. What will you want with you while on your porch swing? Keep that in mind when looking at what’s available.

The Porch Swings I Love Most

Of course, I have a very strong preference in porch swings. There is one particular artisan who builds beautiful, durable porch swings from Cypress. His name is Ted Leger (pronounced Lay-shay), and he’s based in Louisiana (where a lot of cypress trees grow). All of his swings are hand made, and he can ship anywhere in the USA.

I strongly recommend you view the variety of porch swings he has available.

Real Estate Marketing Methods for Your Investment Property

by on August 30th, 2008

After you understand the key to real estate investing you will need to be able to market your property for rent. Here are 4 rock solid ways to getting your message out there about your available rental. Note that these methods can also apply to selling the property of interest.

Place a Sign in the Front Yard that is Easy to See from the Street

Although this may seem elementary, it is the single most important step to marketing a property. Typically, a standard “For Rent” sign that you can buy at any store is acceptable. Buy the largest sign you can find, and make sure that your phone number is written as largely as you possibly can. Place it in a the most noticeable part of the front yard to maximize the ability to view the sign from the street and passing cars.

Post an Ad in the Local Classifieds

If you want to maximize the cost of your ads, run them 3 days a week - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. When writing the ad, be sure to include the area where the home is located (like a nearby busy street that most folks should know of, and typically don’t include the address of the home), the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the garage capacity, the square footage of the house, the school zoning, the rental rate with the deposit amount, and your phone number.

Be sure to include as many benefits to the property as possible. An example would be close to schools, shopping, access to a community pool.

Post an Listing in Craig’s List

Craig’s List is a wonderful tool for real estate internet marketing; it’s a free advertising website that gets hundreds of thousands of hits per day, and allows localized advertising of many things, including rental ads. It also allows you to post up to 4 pictures per ad. It is advisable to take advantage of it, and include 4 pictures of the house (maybe one picture of the exterior, and 3 interior pictures). Craig’s List is wonderful, so use it for all kinds of things, both buying and selling or renting.

Post Ads on Other Websites

This one is good if you really want to maximize the exposure of the house, or if you are in a weak market, and need to get the word out more. In this scenario, you would talk with local realtors and property managers to see if you can work out a deal to “borrow” some of the web space for posting your ad. It is likely that they will attempt to compel you in to hiring them as a property manager, but don’t, just offer a small fee for running an ad on their site.

Natural Soaps

by on August 30th, 2008

Now that I use all Natural Soap I find myself researching the origin or history for the different essential oils used in soap making.

I learned about one of my favorite scents; lavender. The Lavender Comfrey Soap that I use is made from Bulgarian lavender which is known world wide for its healing benefits as well as its clean, sweet floral fragrance.

Lavender essential oil is known to be a analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic, and antiviral as well as a bactericide, decongestant, deodorant, and fungicide. Lavender has been used for centuries for healing the likes of acne, athlete foot, indigestion, migraine relief, healing burns and insect bites. stiff joints and sore muscles, sunburns and more. It has also been used as a disinfectant and insect repellent.

A great treat for me is to soak in a bath with all natural Lavender scented Bath Salts

The Goat Milk Soaps that I use is handmade with 50% olive oil and fresh pasteurized goats milk. The best thing about this soap is that it is naturally moisturizing and gentle to your skin.

It has been said that Cleopatra use to bathe in milk. I am sure that there are many woman who followed Cleopatra using milk in her bath as well as some men although they might not admit to take milk baths.

Milk contains a natural presence of lactic acid as well as alphy hydroxy that are known for softening and removing dead skin cells.

By far the most interesting research was for the essential oil used in Tea Tree Soap.

The mystique of this oil can be traced back to folklore of the Bunjalung Aboriginal tribe. Elder tribesmen told travelers of miraculous lagoons with healing waters that were thought to be a gift from their god. Scientific study revealed that the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia (commonly known as Tea Tree) had fallen into the water to create a naturally antiseptic bath.

Tea Tree Soap makes a great medicinal soap for cuts and scrapes as well as a multi-purpose antibacterial and facial soap for every day use. My son uses it for acne.

Seeking Weight Loss Tips And Advice

by on August 30th, 2008

I have been over weight for to long! So it’s time to develop a weight loss plan. I don’t want to spend days studying all the fads out there, I just need a few good weight loss tips and advice to help me get started. Like choosing the proper diet. Even though here is no such thing as “the” proper diet for every individual. Nevertheless, all humans are similar enough that there are probably broad categories, and many specifics, that are correct for almost anyone. A good diet like the the old-fashioned “balanced diet” that has remained largely unchanged for 60 years or more.

My friend said, why dont’ you try one of those fad diets? So I wonder, are fad diets a bad idea? It seems almost as if there is a new fad diet every week. Many of these contain elements of truth, but on the whole they contain much more good marketing than good science.

There is the 3-day diet, which touts eating little more than fruits for three days, followed by vegetables or meat or grains the other days. There are lots of variations. I just don’t know.

I have read that “the South Beach Diet is a phased approach to weight loss and nutrition. In the three major phases dieters will eat selected foods and avoid others, in order to balance the glycemic index to lose weight and achieve optimal metabolism.” What the heck is the “glycemic index”?

With all the diet informatiom available, it looks like it’s going to take me a lot longer than expected to figure out the best plan for me. Oh well, I suppose I will doing a little more reseach on the subject.

BBQ Right! And Enjoy The Good Bluegrass Music!

by on August 30th, 2008

I’ve been working hard here lately and now it’s time for some BBQ and Bluegrass Music! Some of my favorite bands are Rhonda Vincent and The Rage, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Dale McCoury Band, Dan Tyminski and any band that has a great mandolin picker.

We have a local BBQ place that knows how to do BBQ Right! Sometimes we go over there on Friday orSaturday night, eat some good BBQ and listen to great bluegrassmusic. The other night the band played some Ralph Stanely, Bill Monroe and Flatt and Scruggs tunes. I asked my wife to please get me a copy of the Flatt and Scruggs old TV shows for my birthday. I think she will!

Speaking of BBQ, do you know how Natural Gas vs Propane vs Charcoal stacks up? I am thinking about getting a Grill and was wondering which one is best. Nothing like some good ribs basted in barbeque sauce fixed on an open grill on Saturday night! Almost forgot the beverage, NOT! A cool, refreshing cold drink of choice puts the final touch on the meal.

Oh, on a totally different subject, I am in the process of re-doing my home office and ran across a site that has a ton of good information on such topics as Outfitting a Home Office, Choosing An Office Copier and lots more. They also have a ton of office equipment and supplies to help with the make over. So this should make my new project go a lot faster which means I can get back to the BBQ and Bluegrass Music!
